Plan Ahead...

By Sister Polly

Joh:6:35: And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!

Have you ever built a house, a model airplane, or sewn together a garment? Have you put together a toy tractor, assembled a little peddle car
or even baked a cake?

Before starting any project there has to be a plan. Those who do not use the instruction sheet usually end up with a few “parts left over” and those who do not use a recipe have to admit that there WAS one in the past. You simply do not throw away the directions and guess at the construction of your project or your creation will be far from successful.

In the same manner we do not throw away God’s instructions, known as the Bible, and attempt to build a successful Christian life. Before this instruction Book was written, God had a plan! God, the Creator, planned a heaven and an earth and an environment for His most important work; creating a family to share it with and a plan to bring this family into His Kingdom for all eternity.

Your instruction sheet usually starts with step #1. God’s began with, “In the beginning” (Gen. 1:1). The earth had became void and without form, no light and no divisions between the elements. Following His precise plan, God made the earth fit for human habitation (Gen. 1:2-25). He created a paradise; a sinless sanctuary with no time and no death.

In the beginning of Genesis chapter three, we find what may appear to some to be a flaw in God’s creation; the onset of sin in a perfect world and the start of spiritual death. God, however, knows the end from the beginning (Isa. 46:10). He created people with the freedom to choose or reject Him.

When man chose to rebel, God revealed His plan for salvation. When He chose to reveal Himself He did so through a tiny baby boy so special that He drew the angels, the shepherds and the wise men to Him. He aroused the curiosity of the kings causing the pursuit on His very life from birth. This Son of God grew in stature and spirit to touch and heal the sick, to call forth the dead and to shed real human tears from a broken heart for all who would not believe in the ultimate plan of the Father.

In God’s world there is a one-way street and this way is Jesus Christ. When Jesus lived on earth He prayed to God, the One who could save Him from death and His prayers where heard. Not saved from physical death which He had to suffer for you and me but from spiritual death through perfect obedience to His Father. In this way He was able to offer eternal salvation to all who obey His commanments.

As God’s plan continues, Jesus Christ continues to intercede for us as our Great High Priest who has gone on into Heaven (Col. 1:12-20, 1 Tim. 2:5-6, Heb. 4:15, Rom. 8:29). When God plans something it happens! He does what He says He will do (Isa. 46:10)! He planned with wisdom and with His breath and a spoken Word, things were created. He planned us with perfection in mind that we would be like His Son (Ps. 104:24-30, Pro. 3:19-20, Rom. 8:28-30).

In the Bible’s first Book states His goal. He is making man in His own image and likeness. Man would not only look like Him but would have the spiritual ability to understand His nature and learn to conform to it. Through the experiences of life and the process of building godly character, humans can put on the image of God and be resurrected into the Kingdom (1 Cor. 15:49-53).

The plan had a beginning and the plan has an end, certain boundaries and limits during which His work of glorifying sons and daughters will be done. The end of the age that Jesus speaks of means this present system of man’s rule over earth will end when Jesus returns (Matt. 24:14, 28:20). Many have tried to pinpoint this end of time but Scripture states plainly that this is known only to the Father (Matt. 24:36).

God’s timing is different from ours and we would be terribly mistaken to think He has put off or is slow in doing what He promised (2 Pet. 3:8-9, Ps. 90:4). God’s plan is that all who believe will be raised in perfection in a twinkling of an eye when the last trumpet sounds (1 Cor. 15).

God’s entire plan was given to Daniel and then he was told to seal it up and go his way because these things would not happen for a long time (Dan. 8:26). Christ Jesus speaks to John in the Book of Revelation and tells us that all the things written in His Book are true! Yes, I am coming soon (Rev. 22:20)! Live every day as if God’s plan is coming to completion today! Amen! Come Lord Jesus!
