Our mom was the dearest mom ever! There wasn't a soul around her that didn't like her. She touched everyone's heart in one way or another.
Growing up she was our drill sergeant she knew how to get things done and she did it her way or the highway.
Growing up she took on many roles during our childhood from room mother, Girl Scout leader, 4H leader and taxi driver for all five of us at one time or another.
She just wasn't our mom she was everyone's mom. Mom had a natural knack with kids.
Mom was a simple woman. She went through many trials and difficulties in her life, all which she made her stronger.
She was a kind, caring, giving person who never met a stranger. She had friends from the east coast to the west coast. Mom didn't hesitate putting others before herself.
She was there to lend a helping hand whether she had things of her own to do.Most of all Mom loved the Lord, simply, openly and wholeheartedly. Her faith and love for the Lord was a part of the everyday fabric of her life.Just like her knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing. Goodness was she a pack rat!! She kept everything. Didn't want to part with it for fear she might need it one day!
Not only did she collect this and that.. she collected many cats! Mom loved animals, as much as they loved her.
At the time mom went to be with the Lord, I think she had collected over 60 cats mostly stray.
She took them in and cared for them. I have never known mom not to have some type of animal. My mom would minister and counsel to anyone in need. She knew the hurts of ones life and what it can do to ones soul.My mom is sadly missed by all who hearts she touched.. She was not only a mother to 5, a grandmother to 11, she was a sister, aunt, cousin, friend, mentor and companion.
While she would often reminisce about one of her life's experiences, her advice at the end would be consistent:She would direct them to God as their source for hurt and healing. While she may not be with us now, her memories will live in our hearts forever. We love and Miss her each and every day.
