God said, "I shall never leave thee, nor forsake thee." What does this mean to Christians today? Simply that through the Holy Spirit, He is in you and you are in Him. God is with you always.
Heb:13:5: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6: So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.When you truly attempt to do God's work, the blessings are endless. He can empower a very small ministry and enable it to teach world wide. He will be with you through everything, both good and bad times. Our Father takes care of His children much any flesh father does.
Heb:12:6: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. He loves you and therefore He corrects you so that He can form you into the person He wants you to be. We need to think about what happens to us and how God would use us. God loves one who would spend some time meditating and trying to understand His Word and how it effects their life. So, how does this apply to God's elect as opposed to those who have free will?
Ro:8:26: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. We may study God's plan but we don't know completely what God would have us do in our daily life. The Spirit will intercede for us. He understands.
Ro:8:27: And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29: For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30: Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.31: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?Satan is against us, but we have the power over his if we just exercise it. God will never leave His elect! Let's look at a few of the examples He gave us. In acts 9 Paul, then named Saul, was pursuing and persecuting Christians. He had held the coats of those that stoned God's servant, Stephen. But God had called Paul. He was a chosen vessel who would not only take the Word of God to Israel but to the Gentiles as well. this same person wrote most of the New Testament, with God's inspiration.
Ac:9:1: And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2: And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.Paul was a total zealot. He believed fully in what he was doing. He even went to the trouble of getting the proper legal papers to allow him to carry on his "mission."
Ac:9:3: And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?God was with Paul. Look what condition it left him in.
Ac:9:8: And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.God blinded him! He jarred the daylights out of him. There may be a time in your life when you have had something like this happen. You may have even blamed Satan, instead of realizing where your correction came from. Paul new understood that God was real. If you pray daily for His presence and guidance and then attempt to walk in a different path, take your whipping. Sometimes God's presence may be a little rough for you to take for the moment. You must think and then know and understand that if you are God's elect, He will move you where He chooses, just as He did Paul.
In Judges, we are given Deborah for another example. She was a prophetess and a judge in Israel. (Before Israel had kings they had judges.) She called in her head general to have a talk with him.
J'g:4:6: And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun? 7: And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.Barak knew that the Lord commanded and promised it, but he said, "If you will go with me I will, but if not, I won't" So Deborah (who knew God was with them and would not forsake them), told him she would accompany the army, bur Barak would not get the credit! Instead, Sisera's death would be at the hand of a woman. So with Deborah at his side Barak took his men to war against Sisera's entire army which had nine hundred iron chariots. God intervened and caused every man of Sisera's army to die by the sword of Israel, except one. Sisera himself was killed by a woman not even of Israel, Jael, and so fulfilling God's prophecy spoken by Deborah.
