Looks like they solved the packaging issue
Prior reviewers complained of inadequate packaging and product damage upon arrival. It appears that Sanyo and/or Amazon listened and addressed the issue. I received by fridge in Feb 2011, and it came through in great shape and completely undamaged. The box was sturdy and each side of the... -

this fridge is about half the price at my local warehouse store (starts with costc....) you can get even get them to ship it to you for quite a bit less than amazon's price.

I just got this mini-fridge for college about 2 weeks ago and it works fine and is cold but it has a strong plastic odor and gives that odor to everything insides it. when i drink something it tastes fine as long as i don't breath in.
Your sucking in those carcinogenic fumes given off by a new product. That's why when not in use you should leave the door open, can place crumpled up newspaper inside to absorb all orders. Use baking soda placed inside during use to absorb all orders, change once/mo.
