i have a mini refrigerator that's under a year old, but it doesn't get cold. is there a separate switch or something? the fan blows when plugged in. the knob is set to the max.
Unplug the refrigerator. Set the knob to the middle and spin the fan by hand. Then plug the refrigerator back in and spray the fan with lukewarm water. Dont stop until you hear something snap, that will be motor shorting out. Then it might get cold after you set it to max.

I bought a new $ 175.00 mini fridge from best buy a year and a half ago and then moved and never got around to taking it out of the box and installing it until just this week. It was still technically “brand new” and sealed in the box and had been kept in a spare room so nothing could have happened to it really. A few days ago I plugged it in and left it running for 24 hours on the coldest setting and still the temperature inside was the same; not cold at all. The freezer part also did nothing to freeze the water in the ice cube tray I had in there. It’s clearly running and is making a humming/buzzing sound but no actual cooling is happening. I looked it up online and found something saying I should check the compressor on the back to see if it’s hot, and it is. It’s radiating heat and is hot to the touch.
So now what? What exactly is wrong with it and what can I do to fix it? I’m really not handy with repairs or electrical things at all so I’m hoping there’s something simple and straightforward I can do to make it work. If not though, would it be a fairly easy fix for a professional to come out and do? I know a handyman in the area who could probably fix it, but if it’s something complicated then I won’t bother since I don’t want to end up paying more than the original price of the fridge just to get it fixed....
