Great kitchen...well-packaged for assembly
First, I'll talk about assembly of the kitchen. Then, I'll talk about the kitchen itself.============ASSEMBLY============You'll see several other reviewers talk about the difficult assembly of this product. Make no mistakes, putting this together is a non-trivial task, but I have to applaud... -
The good, the bad, the height, the storage
OK, I did my homework and read a ton of reviews before purchasing so I was forewarned.[Most of] Assembly took 2.5 hours. It was smooth going, no cursing, everything looked great until we came to the very last two pieces. Some of the holes that were supposed to be pre drilled did not appear to be...

Thank Ikea for the inspiration for these Swedish meatballs
Ah, the wonders of the Internet. It has brought the world a little closer. How else would I know about a young mother of two who lives on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and decided to recreate the recipe for Ikea's Swedish meatballs?
Swedish meatballs are the only kind I really crave. I don't like those golfball-size ones they stick on top of spaghetti in restaurants, and the sweet-sour ones I find at a lot of parties in slow-cookers make my teeth hurt they're so artificial tasting.
Anyway, blogger Laura at Tideandthyme.com has discovered Ikea stores. (The closest one to us is in the Chicago area.) It's a Swedish retailer that offers inexpensive yet sleek and trendy furniture, accessories and textiles. It's also a purveyor of imported Swedish food. Each Ikea has a cafeteria, but you also can take home items like frozen meatballs and lingonberry jam. My mom loved the meatballs, and since she didn't cook anymore, whenever we were visiting family in the northern hinterlands, we'd stop at the Ikea there and stock up -- for her and me!
Ikea adventures « ANDREWDeGRAAF.com
— Much to De-Ann’s chagrin. haha. She said “tonight I can’t believe how much Ikea stuff we have.” She count about maybe 10 items that AREN’T Ikea. Love it.
Well we added some more Ikea furniture to our collection yesterday. As you most know we have been getting our basement renovated. Well it is in the finishing stages now, so we have started to move furniture down there to get ready for a guest — special guest — De-Ann’s Mom. She will have the privilege of sleeping in the new bedroom downstairs, for the first time.
Back to our addition of Ikea stuff. Last night we went to Ikea with my Father-in-law’s truck (my dream truck–Ram 2500 with Cummings diesel engine and extended bed) . We went there to get furniture for the basement. We had a list, De-Ann loves to make lists. Anyway, we had to get storage shelves, a day bed for the bedroom, kitchen cabinetry for the dry-bar in the living room, and some cabinets for De-Ann’s office and art supplies. Oh and we were suppose to get a TV stand for the components but I forgot to pick up the parts for it. I’ll explain in a minute....
Small House Musings: IKEA: Catering to Tiny and Small Kitchens
IKEA designers have come up with some creative ideas for those of us who live in small spaces (as opposed to tiny spaces) as well. In this video, Anna Halberg, IKEA designer takes us on a brief tour of a country kitchen that is only 7 square meters. By sacrificing a little more floor space than usual, they have created a multi-functional island that supports, preparation, cooking and clean-up functions all in one. While a kitchen renovation is still a year or two away for us, I can see using this sort of concept in our cottage to get the functions we need in a smaller footprint. This will enable us to set the dining table up in the middle of the living space and free up wall space to install a wood stove. At the moment the chimney is hidden behind drywall and the cupboards come too close to permit installation of a wood stove. We also checked out the induction cook tops at IKEA. While the European sites...
