No more wasted space
I've found that the "freezer" section of a mini fridge is pretty much a waste of space - too small to be really useful, and in constant need of defrosting. Casero Pizza & Specialty Breads opens in New Cumberland
Three days after Matt and Becky Szejk opened the pizza shop at 119 Bridge St., Tropical Storm Lee pounded the region. Three feet of water from the nearby Yellow Breeches Creek filled the restaurant.
The Szejks had no choice but to close Casero.
“It was hard. A little crazy,” Becky Szejk said.
After the flood waters receded, they spent about one and a half weeks cleaning and disinfecting the restaurant as well as replacing some equipment including a refrigerator unit.
Now, Casero is back in business. It’s specialty is handmade New York style pizzas, although they also serve strombolis, calzones and other fare. Everything from the crust — and, they offer whole wheat — to the sauce is made from scratch.
The Szejks started their pizza empire five years ago at the West Shore Farmers Market in Lemoyne . They continue to toss pies and bake breads at the stand.
The restaurant evolved at the request of regular customers who wanted a place they could patronize all week long. Some of the menu items mirror the market stand but the offerings have expanded.
