Even a Maytag refrigerator needs its condencer cleaned or this can happen. Refrigerator repair in Chino Hills Ca. with Apco Appliance and Air. Working on a Maytag refrigerator that stoped cooling. When Apco arrived we found the condencer was 80% clogged. This caused the unit to run hot and blew a winding in the compressor. The compressor grounded to its frame internally and also shorter out the adaptive defrost control. The adaptive defrost control is a ciruit board located inside most Maytag refrigerator sections and it controls the defrost system starting and stoping. This repair is so costly customer is buying new. The major cost is from the compressor change out. Here are a few pics....
