Thousands gather for fall ritual ride
Saturday, October 8, was exceptional and the corner of Hwy. 35 and Wisconsin St. N was once again the busiest intersection in all of St. Croix County. It was the annual fall “Frost Your Nuts” motorcycle ride. From 10 a.m. until nearly 2 p.m. 3,500 riders converged on the tiny Mallalieu Inn, host of the event since 1981.
The ride was started in late 1970s, in ‘75 or ’76. It originated at The D and L, now the location of the Village Inn. Originally 13 riders, including Don Ward the owner D of L, took to the highways every Friday and Saturday. On one of the late season rides, it was snowing. That was all it took for one of them to create a cardboard sign, welcoming others to the “Frost Your Nuts” ride. The name stuck and before long a tradition was born.
The first official ride made stops in Somerset, Star Prairie, New Richmond and ended up at the Hammond Hotel. A spring ride became known at the “Defrost Your Nuts” ride.
Another idling issue, but different - MX-5 Miata Forum
Recently, I notice at idle, which is about 800-850, it seems as if I notice a click, like the sound of a relay or switch, and the idle jumps to 1000 and holds steady there. Then, after what seems to be the same short interval every time this happens, about 4-5 seconds I'm guessing, I hear the same sort of click and the idle goes back down to 800-850 where it holds steady again. If it's a long signal, I'm guessing it might happen again, but I'm not sure yet. Doesn't seem to matter if it's warm or cold, seems like it might not happen when it's cold. It didn't do it when I test drove it but started after about two weeks. Or it's possible i just didnt notice it happening. I'm retired and don't have a daily commute. Same thing on my 03 now that the weather has turned cold here in Colorado. Even without the AC button pushed, if you set the heater controls to the defrost/windshield settings, this is what happens....
Subzero Refrigerator warm - DIY Home Improvement, Remodeling ...
The evaporator coil behind the cover on the back wall inside the freezer will ice up under normal conditions. Every 8 to 10 hours for around 20 minutes the defrost timer (or in most newer models the electronic adaptive defrost control) will turn the defrost heater on to melt the built up ice. There is a defrost thermostat which prevents the heater from overheating the freezer by breaking the heater circuit when the temp reaches close to 32 degrees F. The entire cooling system shuts off during the defrost cycle and starts back when the timer advances through the cycle. The defrost heater is located on the evaporator. It is in a tube which is at the bottom and can also go up the sides of the evaporator. On some types you can see a burnt spot if its bad. With an ohm meter it should show continuity from end to end when disconnected from the wiring in the freezer. You can also test the wiring for voltage when its in the defrost mode. If...
