My freezer ices over and it causes the fridge and freezer to warm up. So I figure it's something related to the defrost system that's not working, but how do you know if it's the timer, heater, or thermostat?
More than likely its a bad defrost timer. Although it could be the defrost heaters, the timers are far more apt to fail than the heaters.
I defrost the evaporator in a GE domestic refrigerator and replace the defrost heater. To buy appliance parts check out: www.oc-repair.com

Unit will not go into the defrost mode...I started out checking all the components in the defrost system....DEFROST hEATER...tHERMOSTAT....THERMISTORS (ALL 3).....AND ALL CHECKED GOOD SO i REPLACED THE CIRCUIT BOARD...still did not defrost......SO I replaced the HEATER....THERMOSTAT....THERMISTORS (ALL 3) AND THE CIRCUIT BOARD....still wont defrost......WHAT AM I MISSING?
