Customer Reviews:
  1. Over Priced
I am an organizer by nature and have used trays, bins and baskets to organize all kinds of things. However, I had my doubts that this idea would work well in a refrigerator. While trays can keep things orderly and make them more accessible they can also decrease the amount of "usable" space...
  2. Good but not great
The Fridge Binz seem to be a great hit. I had to order them online because three stores in NYC were out of stock of this size. I like them because when I pull one out, I can easily get to what is in the back of the fridge. I would have given them a 5-star rating if it were not for their little...

Where is the defrost thermostat of the Maytag model MZD2766GEW of a domestic fridge?

I have a domestic Maytag fridge model: MZD2766GEW , the ice is blocking the coil inside the freezer side, it could be either defrost thermostat defected or missing refrigerant in the system and how much the pressure of suction line should be?

I doubt its the defrost bi metal, more than likely its the adaptive defrost board. Suction pressure should be 0 while running but there should not be any schrader valves on the unit to check freon pressures unless sealed system work has been done before.

How does a push button defrost refrigerator work?

I'm concerned mainly with compact fridges; I know there are two types of fridges when it comes to defrost type: manual, and push button. I know how to defrost a fridge manually, but how do the push button models work? Does the fridge heat up...

The push button defrost is actually what I would call a semi-automatic defrost. Basically, you push the button and the freezer defrosts. There is no need to change the temperature setting so you do not need to worry about other items warming up.

Tips to protect yourself from foodborne illness

Do not eat or taste food from cans that bulge or leak or that have a sticky residue or an unusual smell. The food could be contaminated. Read food packaging labels for instructions on how to store foods after opening and for expiration dates.

Note the different types of expiration jargon. FSIS provides a list of what to look for:

A “Sell-by” date tells the store how long to display the product for sale. Buy the product before the date expires. A “Best if used by” (or “Before”) date is recommended for best flavor or quality. A “Use-by” date is the last date recommended to use the product at peak quality. The date has been determined by the manufacturer.

Patricia Buck, director of Outreach & Education at the Center for Foodborne Illness Research & Prevention, recommends the following shopping tips:

Make sure the produce is not bruised because pathogens are more likely to grow on bruised areas.

How should we keep the products in the fridge?

Everyone knows that food should be stored in the refrigerator but do you know how products should be stored there to make them stay fresh longer? Besides, do you know how many products can be kept in the refrigerator without losing their nutritional properties?

Refrigerated products stay fresh longer, so store them in a correct temperature and humidity. Of course, if the product is not kept according to the rules, it may suddenly lose its freshness. The best temperature to maintain the freshness of the products is +4 ....+ 6 ° C. Having a refrigerator with automatic defrost system, you should be aware of temperature differences between the top and the bottom. Depending on the size of the device, the temperature difference may reach 5-7 ° C. So, keep in mind that the very coldest spot is the lower shelves of the refrigerator and the hottest is in the top of device. To make your foods fresh for longer, keep sausage, opened, canned and prepared meals, like soups, in the top shelves and fresh meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and dairy products in the lowest shelves....

The fridge is your best friend. It is also one of the most reliable appliances in the known universe. Unfortunately however, there are times when we need to do a little refrigerator repair . Fridges go on the fritz just like anything else does, but before you call the pros, here are a few things you can do yourself that will fix most problems.

The Lights Are Off And Nobody Is Home

Here’s a common problem – You open the door and the light does not come on. Or the light comes on, but something does not seem like it is working right. You reach your hand in there and you do not feel that cool air that is supposed to be humming through there. This means that your fridge isn’t running. Before you call the professionals, let’s see if you can fix it yourself.

This is often a very important piece of this specific matter. First of all, make sure it is plugged in. You will slap yourself on the forehead when you pull on that wire and the plug comes rattling around the corner. You are not the only one – it is a common mistake. The fridge needs power, and when there’s no light on, that means you’ve got none. If it is plugged in and still not keeping things cool, there might be something else wrong.
